Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you use EnjoyTyping (https://enjoytyping.com), how it is used, and the choices you have. EnjoyTyping is an independent website run by an individual. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to EnjoyTyping.

Summary

  • You do not need an account.
  • Your typing results, lesson progress and settings are stored only in your own browser, unless you choose to submit a race result to a public leaderboard.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies, and you can opt out.
  • We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, including personalized ads, and you can opt out.

Information stored in your browser

EnjoyTyping saves your test results, best scores, lesson progress, game streaks and settings (such as sound on or off) in your browser's localStorage. These entries use keys that start with et:v1:.

This data stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for enjoytyping.com in your browser settings. Doing so resets your saved progress. If you use a private or incognito window, your browser will usually delete this data when the window is closed.

Some features let you create files on your own device, such as a typing certificate or a result image. These are generated in your browser and are not uploaded to us.

Public leaderboards

Some games, such as Typing Race, let you submit a result to a public leaderboard. This is optional and only happens when you press the submit button. When you do, we store:

  • the nickname you enter (3 to 12 letters, numbers or underscores; please do not use your real name),
  • your result (speed, accuracy and time) and your race progress over time, so other players can race against your "ghost",
  • a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit how often results can be submitted and to prevent abuse. We do not store the IP address itself.

Nicknames and results are shown publicly on the leaderboard. To protect the leaderboard from automated submissions, the submit button uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that the request comes from a real browser. Turnstile's handling of data is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. To have a result removed, contact us with the nickname, the game and the date.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, when your browser requests a page, Cloudflare's servers receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Cloudflare processes this information to deliver the site and protect it against abuse and attacks. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit the site, which pages and tools they use, and how they found us. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and collects information such as the pages you view, the time spent on them, referring sites, approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address), and device and browser type. We see only aggregate reports and do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors. We do not send your typing results or anything you type to Google Analytics.

You can learn how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. To opt out of Google Analytics on all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or block cookies in your browser.

Advertising: Google AdSense

EnjoyTyping is free and supported by advertising served by Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info.

If you opt out, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests. Ads may still use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as limiting how often you see the same ad, measuring ad performance and preventing fraud.

Advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners, not by EnjoyTyping, and we do not receive personal information from them. We only receive aggregate reports about ad performance.

Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will see a consent message provided through a Google-certified consent management platform. It lets you choose whether to allow cookies and the use of your data for personalized ads. You can change your choice later through the privacy settings option in that message where it is offered, or by clearing your cookies for this site so that the message appears again.

Children

EnjoyTyping can be used by learners of all ages, but the site is not directed at children under 13 for the purposes of personalized advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern, please contact us.

Your choices

  • Local data: clear site data for enjoytyping.com in your browser settings to delete your saved progress.
  • Cookies: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies does not stop the typing tools from working.
  • Personalized ads: use Google's Ads Settings or aboutads.info as described above, or your consent choices if you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws, such as the right to access or delete personal data. Since we do not store personal data on our own servers, most requests will concern data held by Google or Cloudflare, which you can manage through their tools.
