Why EnjoyTyping exists
EnjoyTyping is an independent project made by Sangwon. Typing drills are easy to abandon after a day or two, so the goal of this site is to make practice something you want to come back to, while still teaching proper technique.
Everything here is free to use and works in the browser on desktop and mobile. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
What you can do here
- Typing Test. Measure your words per minute, raw WPM, accuracy and keystrokes per hour. Tests run for 30 seconds, 1, 3 or 5 minutes, and there is a separate mobile typing test for phone keyboards. After each test you see the keys you missed most, with a link to the lesson that practices them. You can also download a free typing certificate with your result.
- Typing Lessons. Six courses with 46 levels take you from the home row to speed drills, with stars to earn on every level. Each new key comes with a finger guide that shows which finger to use and the path it travels, followed by drills, words and a review of the keys you missed. A short placement test suggests where to begin.
- Typing Games. In the Monster Typing Game, every word you type sends an attack at a monster. In the Typing Challenge, you race to finish each line of scrolling text before it reaches the deadline.
- Keyboard Tester. Check that every key on your keyboard works, see key codes, and test how many keys your keyboard registers at once.
- Guides. Practical articles on typing speed, finger placement, posture and keyboard layouts.
Your progress stays with you
EnjoyTyping has no sign-up and no user database. Your test results, lesson progress and settings are saved in your own browser's local storage, so they are there when you return on the same device and browser. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them. The privacy policy explains this, along with the analytics and advertising the site uses.
How the site is funded
The site is free and supported by ads. Ads are kept away from the typing area and game screens, so they do not get in the way while you type.
